A Hidden Gem in Tanzania

Discovering Materuni Coffee

Materuni is renowned for its high-quality Arabica coffee, grown in the fertile volcanic soils of Kilimanjaro. Visitors can take part in guided coffee tours, where they learn about the traditional coffee-making process—from picking ripe cherries to roasting, grinding, and brewing a fresh cup using age-old Chagga techniques. The experience is both educational and interactive, ending with a tasting session of the rich, aromatic coffee.

Village Activities & Cultural Experiences

Beyond coffee, Materuni offers a variety of engaging activities:

Waterfall Hike: A scenic 45-minute trek through banana and coffee plantations leads to the stunning Materuni Waterfall, a 80-meter cascade where visitors can swim in the refreshing pool below.
Traditional Chagga Lunch: Guests can enjoy a homemade meal prepared by locals, featuring dishes like machalari (cooked banana), pilau (brown rice), and mtori (banana and meat stew) and e.t.c.
Banana Beer Brewing: Learn how the Chagga people ferment bananas to create their traditional beer, a unique cultural experience.
Dance & Music Performances: Local villagers often perform traditional Chagga songs and dances, showcasing their vibrant heritage.
